Cottage Food Safety & Farm Food Safety

  • Centennial Room (Montrose City Hall) 433 South 1st Street Montrose, CO, 81401 United States (map)

Join us October 2nd 12-5pm to learn about Farm Food Safety and Cottage Food Certifications. Harrison Topps of Rocky Mountain Farmers Union (RMFU) will share good agricultural produce practices that start with the soil and end with fresh produce. Ann Duncan of CSU Extension will follow with a 4 hour in-person training for Cottage Food Safety, a common requirement for direct- to-consumer farm product sales of value-added products.

This session is a great opportunity for farmers, ranchers, and at-home food producers to gain an understanding of food safety from fields to forks. All that complete the class and pass the Cottage Food Safety quiz will be eligible for Cottage Food Certification.

Reminder Cottage Food Certification is required for value-added products, and is not required for raw fruits and vegetables. Click here for more information on what classifies as Cottage Foods.

Please pre-register here and reach out to audrey@valleyfoodpartnership.org with any questions. You may choose to attend both or one of RMFU Farm Food Safety or CSU Ext. Cottage Food Certification.
